Siberian Indigenous Music Collective Otyken Release New Rock'n'Roll Single 'Khan Blues'

Оtyken is a project of Andrey Medonos, producer and director of the Ethnographic Museum in Krasnoyarsk. Оtyken is a Siberian indigenous music group. The marvellous combination of traditional musical instruments and modern arrangement will definitely entertain you! Their mystical throat singing, special elemental vocals, enchanting sounds of vargan (jaw harp), khomys, morinhur, leather drums will take you to the wild thickets of the Siberian taiga.

Khan Blues tells about the homeland and its significance in a person’s life. The members of the collective are inspired by the Siberian expanses, nature and the history of indigenous peoples. This song is dedicated to all the people who are in a foreign land and strongly miss their home. They also pay tribute to the rich culture of Rock N Roll and the artists who inspired them to create Khan Blues.

They sing their songs in Khakass, Chulyms and Russian (sometimes). In their songs you can hear the great history of the Siberian indigenous national crafts. Their musicians (Chulyms) will tell you about their usual daily life: collecting herbs and pine cones, moving through wild taiga for hunting, apiary work, preparing gear for night fishing. According to one version, the Chulyms are the ancestors of the Japanese Ainu and the indigenous peoples of North America. According to another version, the Chulyms are an ancient Turkic tribe. The Chulyms live along the Chulym River in the Krasnoyarsk Territory.

The Otyken has triumphed in different international festivals and has an enormous amount of fans all over the world. The magical power of their music will heal your soul and your body as well, and it can even send you into a trance!

Currently, the Оtyken project includes the following indigenous peoples of Siberia: Chulyms, Kets, Selkups, Khakases and Dolgans. Group Оtyken goes to a new level! A Siberian indigenous music band that plays rock and roll!

This music video was filmed in a small village in the Krasnoyarsk Region. Only one person lives there in the middle of a dense forest, on the banks of a navigable river! In this composition, they combined elements of Rock N Roll, Blues, R&B, Pop Rock and Siberian Folk.
