Jo's Picks Of The Month is a regular monthly contribution, published exclusively in the Sound Café magazine with the intention of providing you with information on artists that you might not have heard of, but we think are truly worth exploring further.
DAMIANO DAVID
Damiano David is an Italian singer and songwriter. He is the frontman of the rock band Maneskin.
He started his solo career in 2024, releasing singles 'Silverlines' and 'Born With a Broken Heart'. David was born in Rome, his parents were both flight attendants, so his brother and himself travelled the world from a young age.
He did not complete high school, instead concentrated on music. He's had great success with the band and now with his solo career. His look and fashion style on stage is seen as a mixture of hippie, vintage, and glam rock from the 70's, because of which, he has been labeled an Italian fashion icon.
Hope you like the song, "Born With a Broken Heart".
NORTH EASTON
North Easton was born on Vancouver Island, the youngest of three boys. North's mother (and inspiration) made sure his brothers didn't pick on him while he was practicing the piano. North traded great grades for blisters on his fingers. He had a band called Garrity, which won song of the year for best country song. (Stuck on the stairs).
A number of Norths songs have also been linked to independent movies and this year, North acquired a placement in Twentieth Century Fox's Animated Hit Series 'American Dad' for his tune the 'Texting Song'.
Calling Ottawa home these days, he spends a lot of time inspiring other Canadian songwriters, as the Songwriters Association of Canada's local co-ordinator. He also works with up and coming artists throughout Canada on the development of their songs and musical careers.
Just love his voice, hope you like, "Hey There Billionaire".
"My collection of K-TELS playing on my portable candle record player is where my relationship with and love for music of all genres began. It continued throughout my life, from going to concerts through to my more recent luck in being involved in an album production, from studio recording to mastering. WOW! What an experience, and from it I've gained an even greater respect and appreciation for what it takes to make great music!
Couple that with my air guitar acumen, and that of course makes me a consummate professional in bringing 'Jo's Picks Of The Month' to you.
All kidding aside my repertoire of songs is vast and what an honour it is to share my picks with the readers of The Sound Cafe Magazine!" - Jo.
