Four Chords & The Truth Songwriter Series Set To Return To New Venue At Massey Hall's TD Music Hall

First debuting in Toronto at the Dakota Tavern in 2015, the Four Chords & The Truth concert series quickly became a bucket-list favourite of songwriters and fans alike, often selling out years in advance.

Featuring the crème de la crème of Canada’s top and emerging songwriters ‘confessing’ the secrets behind their songs in an intimate semi-circle, the series has featured to date over 100 award-winning songwriters, among them Rose Cousins, Matt Mays, Dan Hill, Scott Helman, Jully Black, Paul Reddick, Don Amero, Jason McCoy, Andy Kim, Tom Cochrane, Tyler Shaw, Damhnait Doyle, Liz Rodrigues, Donovan Woods, Russell deCarle, Sylvia Tyson and many more.

Founded, curated, and hosted by Nova Scotia-born, Toronto-based singer-songwriter and songwriter advocate, Andrea England, the series has also been a means through which to give back, via its support of the Unison Fund, a non-profit charity that provides counselling and emergency relief services to the Canadian music community.

Moving Four Chords and the Truth to a new home on the fourth floor of the Allied Music Centre - to the new TD Music Hall - will bring the magic and intimacy of this show to more fans of the songwriter and the song, in a beautiful house custom built for music.

Curator Andrea England says, "I’m thrilled to share some very special news about Four Chords and the Truth: after 6 wonderful years, 21 unforgettable shows, and 100+ award-winning songwriters at the Dakota Tavern in Toronto, we’re moving to a new venue…in fact, a brand new venue: the incredible TD Music Hall within the @masseyhall / @alliedmusiccentre complex!!

Your loyalty and enthusiasm have led us to this place, and it's our hope that YOU can be with us to celebrate this new step in our journey on May 25th at 7pm for Four Chords and the Truth: the Fourth Floor Confessions, presented by Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Whiskey.

We wanted to keep the vibe and pre-show social aspect of Four Chords and the Truth alive, so some things will remain the same:

  • Tickets provide access to the venue, where there will be a combination of seats and standing room and seats will be first come first serve on the day of the show. The venue is accessible.

  • The line-up of performers will be announced closer to the date

  • There will be a surprise guest(s)

  • For those who get there early - doors open at 6 - our presenting sponsor Jack Daniel’s will be providing a tasting bar and drink specials (and we also have some other activities up our sleeves as per usual).

  • We’ll continue to support and amplify the Unison Fund because in everything we do we want to also do good

  • We’ve kept ticket prices as low as possible to not make price a barrier to aspiring songwriters, music students, and fans.

  • Four Chords and the Truth mailing list members get access to the pre-sale event, which is tomorrow only.

How to get your tickets (a max of 8 each). We’re expecting this to sell-out, so see below for info:

  • Pre-sale at the link below tomorrow - Thursday, January 19th at 10am EST (for Four Chords and the Truth Mailing List members and Massey Hall Members - pre-sale code will be sent at 7pm Wednesday January 18th)

  • Public On-sale: Friday, January 20th, 2023 10am

We can’t wait to see you!!!" - Andrea.
