Fast-rising harmony trio Tiny Habits release their highly anticipated debut album, 'All For Something', via Mom+Pop along with their latest single “People Always Change”.
Recorded at legendary studio SoundCity in Los Angeles and produced by Tony Berg and Will Maclellan (Boygenius, Phoebe Bridgers), the record was written over two years while the band; Judah Mayowa, Maya Rae, and Cinya Khan attended Berklee College of Music. 'All For Something' is a love letter to the bond and friendship built by the three bandmates who began their career by honing their skill together singing reimagined versions of classic songs and building a viral following in the stairwells and halls of their dorm.
“Making this album has really taught me so much about each of you and myself” reflects Judah.
The album radiates with the band’s trademark angelic harmonies and a richly layered musical backdrop that ranges from introspective 70s-esque folk to modern-day indie-pop. Lyrically it is a deeply personal and moving journey ranging through challenging themes of relationship dynamics and individual identity. There's an underlying sense of vulnerability and honesty that weaves the music together.
As Cinya says, “I hope every listener feels like part of themselves is somehow reflected in these songs and I hope people hear words they need to hear.”
“People Always Change,” the album’s definitive “rock banger” to quote Maya, updates the all too familiar feeling of suddenly realizing a relationship is broken and asking yourself how it came to this. “When did I become someone I’d come to hate, when did he become someone who’d walk away?”
Tiny Habits were still students in Boston when they began gaining recognition for the harmony-focused song covers recorded in their dorm stairwell and posted to millions of listeners on TikTok. They released their first EP of original songs, Tiny Things, in April 2023 and soon earned a spot opening for Gracie Abrams on her North American tour. Later that year they hit the road again supporting Noah Kahan in Europe. They have performed with Lizzy McAlpine on her Tiny Desk appearance, harmonized with Kacey Musgraves and Laufey among many others, were recently profiled in The New Yorker which touted them "The Prodigies of Harmonies," and count fans from the late great David Crosby and Phoebe Bridgers to Elton John, who called them “delicious.” Ann Powers of NPR Music said before the album release “Can’t wait for this vocal trio’s debut album to take the world by storm.”
The band are currently on the European leg of their first ever headlining tour after selling out their biggest rooms yet in the US this Spring, and will play Lollapalooza this Summer before opening for Vance Joy at venues including Radio City and The Hollywood Bowl in the Fall. All dates are below.
Cinya:
'All For Something' is finally out and I can't even believe it. I have never made an album before and I couldn't have asked for a more fulfilling experience. Everything about writing and crafting and fleshing these songs out made me a more capable musician as well as a more tuned in person. I learned so much about myself throughout the making of this record and became so much closer to the habs as well, which is a gift I will never be able to comprehend. Tony and Will made our first album experience absolutely unforgettable! I hope every listener feels like part of themselves is somehow in these songs and I hope people hear words they really need to. Although it was hard, although it took a long time, it really was all for SOMETHING
Judah:
This is the first album I’ve ever been a part of, and I’m so grateful and proud of how it turned out. Each of these songs mean so much to me. Tony and Will, thanks for being such good pals and teaching me so much about life and music. Maya and Cin, thanks for being my best friends and the best bandmates a guy could ever have. Making this album has really taught me so much about each of you and myself. Sooooooooo happy that it’s out in the world!!!
Maya:
This album took pretty much 6 full months to make. It took a lot of hard work, a ton of back and forth, and a ton of disagreeing (and ultimately agreeing) with Tony to get to where we are now, but we couldn’t be prouder. These are 12 of our most precious songs and being able to finally share them with the rest of the world feels like such a gift! Lots more to come, but for now I am just so happy to say that our debut album is finally yours. I LOVE MY HABS! I LOVE THIS LIFE! I LOVE ALL OF YOU!
