Australia's Queen Of Bluegrass Kristy Cox Releases New Single 'Let It Burn'

By Stevie Connor.

Multi Golden Guitar Award-winner and Billboard Chart topping artist, Kristy Cox, kicks off 2024 with a brand new single and a return to the Tamworth Country Music Festival.

Let It Burn”, is a high energy Bluegrass tune with Kristy’s stellar vocal front and centre, surrounded by first-class harmonies the finest Bluegrass musicians from around the globe.

Written by Mike Richards and Jerry Salley, “Let It Burn”, is a song that Kristy has had tucked away for a few years, just waiting for the right time to record it.

“Jerry pitched me this song a couple of albums ago. I loved it but I felt it was never the right time to record it. That changed with this album! The melody grabbed me, the hook hit me and I knew that this was the right album to release this track on”,says Kristy.

“It also uses a lot of vocal range, and it was a challenge to sing it in the studio. I love it when I get to push my boundaries as a vocalist and do something left of centre in the genre”.

This month also sees Kristy leaving the chilly US winter to head home to a sweltering summer with of course a stop at the 2024 Tamworth Country Music Festival. Besides her wildly popular The Tamworth Opry show at the Capitol Theatre on Wed 24th Jan, Kristy will host her own The Ultimate Bluegrass Pickin’ Party also at The Capitol on Australia Day (Fri 26th Jan) and will be part of the impressive line-up of Americana in The Park on Monday 22nd January alongside The Pleasures, Jen Mize & The Rough N’ Tumble, The Cartwheels and host, Melody Moko.

Billboard topping artist Kristy Cox has been awarded with radio success and accolades for her talent. Having signed with bluegrass label Billy Blue Records, Kristy has just released her brand new album ‘Shades of Blue’ in February 2022, following her latest award winning releases ‘No Headlights’ and ‘Ricochet.’

Kristy has been awarded 5 ‘Bluegrass Recording of the Years’ in the Australia’s CMA Awards (Golden Guitar Awards), her latest in 2021 for her track with acclaimed guitarist Tommy Emmanuel ‘Finger Picking Good.’

Praised for her performance and songwriting capabilities, Kristy has been shortlisted in the International Bluegrass Music Awards the past five years for Emerging Artist of the Year and Female Vocalist of the Year and was a finalist in the 2019 IBMA Momentum Awards for Vocalist of the Year.

From a young age, Kristy has captured attention with her distinct singing style and positive outlook, going on to open shows for major acts and appearing on television and major festivals across Australia, Europe and the USA.
