Elizabeth & Jameson is an award-winning collaboration comprising two rising stars of the UK acoustic music scene. Hannah Elizabeth and Griff Jameson have joined forces to create an indie-folk sound which encompasses both their individual musical backgrounds. Hannah’s influences are firmly planted in traditional folk-roots, whilst in contrast Griff has formed his musical reputation within folk pop/rock genres. Together as a duo Elizabeth & Jameson arguably offer the best of both backgrounds; this is simplistic, classic song writing at its best - a stripped back harmony-driven sound with acoustic guitar, violin and exquisite harmony vocals.
As well as securing high-profile support slots on the UK folk/acoustic circuit the duo have built up a strong following after spending the last few years touring folk and acoustic clubs and venues across the UK. Their debut studio album, Northern Shores & Stories was officially released in May 2020 and has been receiving critical acclaim across the acoustic folk/roots community.
Recent festival highlights include greatly coveted invites to perform at Cambridge Folk Festival and the Great British Folk Festival. Elizabeth & Jameson were awarded the NMG Award for best Acoustic, Folk & Roots Act of 2019, and were proud to open four shows for Jools Holland and his Rhythm & Blues Orchestra as part of their 2019 Autumn/Winter tour. Looking ahead to 2021, the duo are planning to tour their debut album extensively across the UK… and beyond!
Northern Shores & Stories is the debut studio album by Elizabeth & Jameson released in May 2020, a concept album inspired by the North Yorkshire coast in England and in particular the harbour town of Whitby. After deciding that they wanted to create a concept piece based around a specific place the duo decided fairly quickly on Whitby - not because of any strong links to the area, but simply because they are so fond of it and felt confident that it would hold the inspiration that they sought for their songs and stories. And they weren't disappointed!
Their own personal experiences also have their place within the concept, as well as simply the physical place itself which is an inspiration all on its own. They have enhanced the songs and stories by using field recordings of the physical environments they have been inspired by, with the aim of transporting the listener to a very real physical place and immersing them in that world through a varied soundscape of music, song and ambient sound.
