Jo's Picks Of The Month is a regular monthly contribution, published exclusively in the Sound Café magazine with the intention of providing you with information on artists that you might not have heard of, but we think are truly worth exploring further.
SABRINA CARPENTER
Sabrina Annlynn Carpenter is an American singer and actress. Her first series on the Disney Channel was Girl Meets World from 2014 till 2017. She then signed with Disney-owned Hollywood Records. Her first single "Can't Blame a Girl for Trying" in 2014 was followed by four studio albums. Eyes Wide Open 2015, Evolution 2016, Singular:Act I 2018, and Act II 2019. "Sue Me", "Almost Love" and "Alien" topped the US Dance Club Songs chart.
In 2021 Sabrina signed with Island Records and released "Skin", which made the US Billboard Hot 100. In 2022 her fifth album, "Emails I Can't Send" was supported by US Pop Airplay with "Nonsense" and "Feather" playing in the top 10 singles. She opened for Taylor Swift at the Eras Tour in 2023. Short and Sweet came out this year and made the top 200 Billboard, with two number one singles "Espresso" and "Please Please Please", which is my pick for this month. Hope you enjoy it.
JAX
Jacqueline Cole Miskanic Gregg, known as Jax, is an American singer-songwriter from the 14th season of American idol. "Victoria's Secret" was her first chart entry on the Billboard Hot 100. Jax finished 3rd in the competition. In 2016 after Idol "La La Land" was released and her first music video was made, the song is about her experience on American Idol. In 2018 Jax performed at the White House's Independence Day celebration.
In 2023, Jax joined Canadian rock band Simple Plan for a re-recorded version of the track "Iconic", which led to her joining them on their Australian tour. In 2024 she released her debut studio album Dear Joe,. One of the tracks is "Too Young to Be Old". Check it out, and check her out, some great tracks. Enjoy!
"My collection of K-TELS playing on my portable candle record player is where my relationship with and love for music of all genres began. It continued throughout my life, from going to concerts through to my more recent luck in being involved in an album production, from studio recording to mastering. WOW! What an experience, and from it I've gained an even greater respect and appreciation for what it takes to make great music!
Couple that with my air guitar acumen, and that of course makes me a consummate professional in bringing 'Jo's Picks Of The Month' to you.
All kidding aside my repertoire of songs is vast and what an honour it is to share my picks with the readers of The Sound Cafe Magazine!" - Jo.
